POSTPARTUM CARE

Recovery I Emotional Support I Breastfeeding

Pregnancy and childbirth are powerful experiences which can take their toll on a woman's body. Often referred to as the 4th trimester, the postpartum period is an important time for a new mother to heal and regain strength, adapt to her new bearings, and bond with her new baby.

Chinese medicine places great importance to lifestyle and dietary changes during this time, and together with acupuncture and herbs, many women find the extra physical and emotional support they are in need of.  Specific postpartum issues, should they arise, which acupuncture and Chinese medicine may help address include:

  • afterpains

  • night sweats

  • persistent uterine bleeding

  • breastfeeding problems

  • postnatal depression
